The native plants we planted last year, thanks to the City’s CEEG grant, are thriving. To give them more space, we cleared out ash and pepper trees today. Emma Lindroth and Hansika Sangaraju tackled the pepper trees amidst the poison oaks,
while Emma, Winston and Adam Stern (not in the picture) cleared a large patch of ash trees.
Over in the Fruit Orchard, Hampton, William Lee, Jay, Zoie, and Andrew were mulching around the pineapple guava.
Jay and William worked on the fuchsia patch.
Everyone took a well-deserved break after finishing our tasks.
Last Saturday, the crew concentrated on the Fruit Orchard. Emma, Adam, and Winston moved a few pine stumps to the Kids' Adventure Garden
Emma and William mulched around the kumquat trees.
A final note: Marshall identified the "palm" from the Kids' Adventure Garden’s stump circle as a cycad. It now has a new home in our "Cycad Forest."
Another day, another reason to love working in the garden.
